Artist Statement

Aria Fleur Clement Artist Statement

My practice as an artist revolves around creating and weaving narrative storylines. I take my inspiration from western media, in comics and animation (including but not limited to shows from Disney and Nickelodeon, for example); At the same time, I also pull inspiration from eastern media, namely anime and manga. Both types have influenced my style and how I create my work. While I am an artist primarily educated in printmaking, my real passion lies in digital media to create my works.
In terms of theming: I am inspired by the DND, and Final Fantasy-esque types of fantasy for my subject matter. Often finding myself wanting to create more magical and fantastic based narratives, as well as some more futuristic genres and trying to find a way to combine the two together. Rather than something grounded in reality. I would rather create something not as much but still something I can ground in some of my own experiences and still create viable rules around.
